New design, more power and improved capabilities over last year's model
On the close of the first night of the Samsung Developers Conference in San Francisco, a new Samsung-manufactured Chromebox has appeared on Google. Powered by an Intel Celeron processor (presumably the updated model available in the most recent Chromebooks), this guy's definitely more stylish than its predecessor.
This new Chromebox — Chrome OS in a box, don'tcha know — sports dual DisplayPorts for output capable of driving two 30-inch displays, and a traditional DVI port, if you prefer. It's got 802.11 a/b/g/n for Wifi, built-in gigabit Ethernet, a half-dozen (count 'em!) USB ports and is Bluetooth 3.0 compatible.
Price "starts" at $329, though we don't see any additional models listed. Also, you'll get 100 free gigabytes of Google Drive storage for two years. The listings aren't all live just yet, but you'll be able to purchase the new Chromebox from Amazon or Tiger Direct in the United States, and Amazon, Currys PC World or ver.co.uk in England.
